The two most populous areas in California are Los Angeles (9,818,000+) and San Diego (3,095,000+) County.
California is a Tax Deed state and does not offer any Tax Lien Certificates or OTC sales. The tax collector may choose to sell a property, either at public auction or online, once taxes are in default to the state for 5 years or more. If a property does not sell when offered, the homeowner has the right to redeem up until the night before the next scheduled sale. Sale dates and auction procedures are set by the tax collectors of the individual counties.
Auction Process / Redemption:
Because of California code (CA GC6254.21), property owner names are usually not disclosed over the phone or on the internet.
